About the role:

MDI is looking to hire a Senior Embedded SW Engineer to work on a variety of automation projects, for both internal-use (manufacturing and testing automation) and customer-use (instruments). We seek a candidate who is a fast-learner, team-player, self-motivated, who has a demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies. Projects will range from regular automation systems (involving sensing, feedback control, data acquisition), to applications of cutting-edge technologies in image processing and robotics control. 

As a senior member on the team, you will lead the design and development of various electronic systems for automation within the company, with a focus on system design, microcontroller programming, and PCB layout. Your role involves not only technical expertise but also effective project management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams (mechanical / electrical / software).

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, or a related field with at least 4 years of industry experience in microcontroller programm ing. Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) is a plus.
  • Experience building complex yet reliable embedded systems from scratch (not copy-pasting example code)
  • Technical:
    • Proficient in embedded C programming, with experience using at least one platform amongst STM32, ESP32, PIC, RL78
    • Knowledge of interrupts, timers, PWM, ADC, DAC
    • Experience with at least one leading IDE: Arduino, Keil, CubeMX
    • Experience using standard communication technologies: UART, Serial, RS-232, RS-485, Modbus, Bluetooth Classic, Bluetooth BLE
    • Experience selecting and interfacing with a variety of sensors: I2C, SPI, ADC (voltage or current output), 1-Wire
    • Experience with PCB design, including best practices to reduce noise
    • Theoretical knowledge of analog and digital electronics, including basic signal processing (e.g. low-pass / high-pass filters)
    • Operational knowledge of testing and measurement instruments like multimeter, oscilloscope etc
  • Behavioral:
    • Ability to collaborate with a broad team (mechanical/electrical/software departments) to deliver a complete solution
    • Strong problem solving skills, attention to detail and desire to learn
